Warren supports the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, including the right to carry a concealed weapon. Vermont respects the right to carry and has one of the lowest crime rates in the nation.
Here’s something most people don’t know about New York’s gun laws. While New York does allow people to own and carry pistols, there is a license requirement. The way the law is written (Penal Law § 400(3)(a)**), it is essentially impossible for out-of-state residents to get a license because you are supposed to apply in the county where you live. This violates both the 2nd Amendment and the “Privileges and Immunities Clause” of the US Constitution. See why this matters in my post about dumb gun law enforcement in New York.
Warren is a member of the National Rifle Association and the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association. As an attorney, he represents gun owners and is a member of the Shooters Bar. The most common gun cases involve Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

**Penal Law § 400(3)(a): “Applications shall be made and renewed, in the case of a license to carry or possess a pistol or revolver, to the licensing officer in the city or county, as the case may be, where the applicant resides, is principally employed or has his principal place of business as merchant or storekeeper ….”
