Favorite Stop Wasting Money tag line

This got the most laughs during the Stop Wasting Money campaign:

There’s 535 people in Congress who pretend to be normal.
There’s room for one nut like me.

I applaud you and praise you for your independence on the Rensselaer County lawsuit and endorsement of Kirsten Gillibrand, and likely on other matters as well. You seem like a man of character and honor, traits very rarely found in politics.

Why not switch parties next time around and challenge Mike for the dem nomination? You’ll need labor and a lot of money, but at least you would be appealing to an overwhelming democratic enrollment edge. I’m no where near 100 percent satisfied with his voting record (and I know Mike personally, btw) – his vote on the Shaivo issue was absurd, for example, but that’s only one of many examples. Ask him how he would like to have me, or congress, or the president, in his living room, or in a hospital conference room, deciding the fate of one of his loved ones.

One of Mike’s big failings is he’s a mouse – he’s very mamby-pamby when it comes to taking a stand and speaking out on it. He takes a below-the-radar approach when he should be speaking up more about the views of his constituents. The only time he speaks up is when it has to do with labor.

Anyway, enough of my rant. If I can find out enough about you, I may vote for you. But I had better find out that you stand more opposed to George W. Bush than McNulty, and a few other things in that category.

  • Thanks to Anonymous for your kind comment. While I don’t fit well in the GOP, there is no home for me in the Democratic Party either. Frankly I don’t know why so many people identify with one or the other. They’re both terrible.

I believe McNulty is more vulnerable in a general election than in a primary. The Wasserman primary demonstrated the difficulty of a primary. Meanwhile the Dem enrollment edge is not that big. Sweeney’s edge is much greater. The 2002 redistricting added substantial GOP areas – Schoharie County and Fulton County.

I don’t think I stand more opposed to Bush than to McNulty. I stand opposed to both of them and to most of Washington. Both fundamentally believe government should make decisions for us. They differ slightly about the topics.

Thanks for being a breath of fresh air. I will be voting for you today, after I thankfully realized that I’m not part of the Sweeney/Gillibrand junk out there. I intend to only vote for people who do NOT show that they are cut and run democrats.

Although I see this as a tough race for you, thank you for being there as another voice.
