Good article. No rational CEO beholden to shareholders, or technical engineer charged with making a project work could ever persist in a clearly, demonstrably unworkable approach. Yet despite the example of alcohol prohibition and 50 years of increasingly self-destructive attempts with drugs, the “law and order” zealots persist. People’s desire to alter their consciousness has always been present, and always will; some will overindulge to their detriment. But trying to stop them by increasingly harse punishment is like trying to make it illegal to urinate, and then, finding it doesn’t work, increasing the penalties. It won’t work. It’s time to face reality.
